Takoma Park Safe Routes

The Takoma Safe Routes to School program aims to encourage students to walk to school regularly and safely. In addition to providing built in exercise for the students, this will reduce traffic congestion and emissions around schools.

Safe Routes also finances infrastructure projects in the City of Takoma Park such as improving sidewalks and intersections. We are pleased to announce that the grant has been awarded through December 2013.

5K Challenge - Sunday May 6, 2012
Registration will open February 6, 2012
Check at www.TKPK5K.com for race and registration information!

SRTS Takoma Park 5K Challenge promotes pedestrian safety and challenges the students, parents and staff at Piney Branch Elementary School, Rolling Terrace Elementary School, Takoma Park Elementary School, East Silver Spring Elementary School and Takoma Park Middle School and city residents, to train and compete in a 5K run or walk, 1 Mile Fun Run or ¼ Mile Youth Run.
