Ride On Bus News for Takoma Park

ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2009, RIDE ON BUS ROUTES 18 AND 25 WILL CHANGE.  We are working hard to notify people who may be affected by these changes, particularly residents along the affected routes.
The September edition of the Takoma Park Newsletter has maps and bus schedules for the two routes.  The schedules and maps are also available on the Ride On web site at www.rideonbus.com.

The schedule and route changes begin Sunday, September 6.  Since the following day is Labor Day, Monday, September 7 will also follow a Sunday bus schedule.  Regular weekday service will begin Tuesday, September 8.

Route 25 will become a Monday through Friday, rush-hour only service.  That means that no Route 25 buses will run on September 6 or 7.
Route 18 will become a seven day per week service and will have frequent service throughout the day.  It will serve the segment of Maple Avenue between Philadelphia and Sligo Creek Parkway.

Route 18 will run from the Silver Spring Metro Station to the Takoma Metro Station and on to the Langley Park loop, returning to Silver Spring via the same route.  In the evenings, the buses will not run to or from the Silver Spring Station; they will begin and end at the Takoma Metro Station.

Route 25 will run from the Takoma Metro Station to the Langley Park loop and return to the Takoma Metro Station.

Significant route segment changes:
Maple Avenue from Carroll to Philadelphia – Bus service is eliminated except for rush-hour service.
Philadelphia Avenue from Carroll to Maple – Will be served by Route 18.
Maple Avenue from Philadelphia to Sligo Creek Parkway – Will be served by Route 18 and, for rush-
  hour service only, Route 25.

Houston Avenue; and Flower Avenue from Houston to Carroll – Will have two-way Route 25 service
  during rush hour only.  There will be no bus service on Houston Avenue at other times or on weekends.
Washington Adventist Hospital – Will be served by Route 18, but not by Route 25.
Carroll Avenue from Philadelphia to the Hospital – Will no longer be served by Route 18.
Carroll Avenue from Flower Avenue to the Langley Park loop – Will be served by Route 25 for rush-
  hour service.
