The City now offers a drop-off for unwanted computer components and small electronic equipment. These items can be dropped off at the Public Works office at 31 Oswego Avenue during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Most electronic equipment contains potentially hazardous metals, such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium. These metals need to be properly handled to avoid release into the environment.
The City contracts with a processing facility that reuses the items it can and dismantles and processes the rest. Any hazardous materials are disposed of at licensed hazardous waste facilities.
