A Place to Serve and Grow If you are interested in a law enforcement career and believe that you have a strong interest in working hard and a high moral character, weI would be pleased to talk with you about the benefits of a police career. Like many other agencies in the Washington, D.C. area, the Takoma Park Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for openings for police officers. This City and Department offer special opportunities and benefits. The former Police Chief, Cindy Creamer, began here as a dispatcher in 1976 and retired in July 2006. She became a sworn officer in 1978 and in July 2002, was named Chief of Police. Truly, the Takoma Park Police was “A Place to Serve and to Grow” for her. It may be the right place for you or someone you know. Takoma Park is a small town and our Department is a modest-sized law enforcement agency. This means officers are not limited to training and working in one narrow area of police work. Specialty units include Criminal Investigations, K-9, and the COP Team. Any officer can train and practice in bike patrol, youth activities, instructor positions and the Honor Guard. Officers get to know each other well and develop relationships with residents. In the 1970s, women police officers were rare, but Takoma Park gave her an opportunity to grow in the profession and supported her course work in college. More officers from every ethnic group, men and women, are sought for the ranks of this police department. Some minority officers may qualify for one special benefit: a pay incentive for certified bilingual skills. Contact the recruiting team at 301.891.7102 or 301.891.7128 for further details. The City of Takoma Park is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, marital state or physical or mental disability, which is unrelated in nature and extent to job performance. |
