Attempt Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On October 18, 2013, at approximately 2:50 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7500 block of Piney Branch Road for reports of an attempt burglary that occurred sometime between October 17 at 12:30 pm and October 18 at 2:50 pm. Unknown suspect(s) attempted entry into the residence by damaging the rear basement door and frame. No property was taken.

Theft from Auto - Community Advisory

On October 17, 2013, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6500 block of Allegheny Avenue for a report of a theft from auto. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's vehicle through an unlocked door and stole property.

A Message from the Chief of Police Regarding Residential Burglaries - Community Advisory

Throughout the months of July, August, September and October, the City of Takoma Park has experienced an increase in residential burglaries. Between July 1 and October 15, 18 residential burglaries have occurred. All incidents took place at various times throughout the days/evenings. The burglaries occurred in the following areas:

7000 block of Sycamore Avenue

7100 block of Sycamore Avenue

400 block of Elm Avenue

6700 block of Gude Avenue

7000 block of Woodland Avenue

Unit block of Walnut Avenue

6600 block of Eastern Avenue

Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 10/11/13 - 10/17/13

Arrests:

7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on Wednesday, October 16th at 9:27 p.m., a male 56, was arrested for having an open failure to appear warrant.

7411 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Sunday, October 13th at 2:44 p.m., two females both 23, were arrested for disorderly conduct, trespassing, and assault on a police officer.

Theft from Auto - Community Advisory

On October 17, 2013, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6500 block of Second Avenue for a report of a theft from auto. Sometime between 12:00 am and 6:00 am, unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's vehicle through an unlocked door and stole property.

Theft - Community Advisory

On October 16, 2013, at approximately 9:38 am, Takoma Park Police responded for a report of a theft that occurred in the 7600 block of Takoma Avenue (Montgomery College). The victim's property was stolen from a classroom.

Indecent Exposure - Community Advisory

On October 16, 2013, at approximately 6:05 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1200 block of Holton Lane for a report of indecent exposure. While the victim was outside warming up her vehicle, a Hispanic or black male, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with white writing on it, and dark jeans, was in the front yard of the house across from where she was and proceeded to take his penis out of his pants. The suspect stood close to the front porch of the vacant house of the yard he was in and began to masturbate in front of the victim. The victim, afraid, got into her vehicle and left.
