Vandalism to Commercial Property - Community Advisory

On November 7, 2013, at approximately 9:38 pm, Takoma Park Police were on patrol in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Avenue and noticed black spray paint graffiti on the rear wall of the Advanced Auto Parts business. The graffiti was gang-related with "MAC" spray painted on the building.

Commercial Burglary - Community Advisory

On November 7, 2013, at approximately 3:15 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7500 block of Maple Avenue police station for a report of a commercial burglary that occurred earlier in the 7500 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Added Dimensions). Unknown suspects entered the business on October 20, 2013, through the front door and stole property. It was unknown at the time of the burglary whether was property was stolen and the victim has since confirmed that property was stolen.

6900 blk. of Laurel Ave., on Friday, November 1st at 4:41 a.m., officers responded to a robbery that just occurred. Two unknown male suspects approached a male victim as he was walking. The suspects demanded the victim’s property in a threatening manner and the victim complied. The suspects then fled toward Washington DC. The victim was not harmed.

Eight Drivers Issued Tickets; 13 Issued Warnings in Takoma Park for Cell Phone Violations While Driving – Community Advisory

Since October 1, 2013, when the new cell phone law went into effect, eight drivers have been issued cellphone violation tickets and 13 were issued warnings for not using hands-free devices in Takoma Park.

Beginning October 1, 2013, police in Maryland, pursuant to new law, were given the authority to pull drivers over for talking on a hand-held cell phone as a primary offense. Even if your phone is on speaker, if you’re holding it in your hand, you are violating the law.

Theft from Auto and Destruction of Property - Community Advisory

On November 5, 2013, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue for a report of a theft from auto that occurred earlier sometime between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Unknown suspect(s) smashed out the rear passenger window of the victim's vehicle and stole property.
