Pepco Scam Alert

The Takoma Park Police Department has recently received information from citizens that they are being scammed by a person(s) calling and purporting to work for Pepco offering services/upgrades in exchange for money.  I have contacted Pepco and advised them of this scam that is occurring so that they may issue a warning to their customers.  
 

Bicycle Thefts

On August 14, 2014, Takoma Park Police responded to the station for a report of stolen bicycles from the unit block of Sherman Avenue.  Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's bicycles from her back yard.  The bicycles are described as blue Jeep BMX bikes.

Theft

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 2:46 pm, Takoma Park Police responded to the 200 block of Ethan Allen Avenue (Takoma Park Co-Op) for report of a theft.  Unknown suspect(s) stole property from the establishment.

Residential Burglary

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 10:38 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 500 block of Ethan Allen Avenue for a report of a residential burglary.  Some time between July 26 at 11:00 am and July 27 at 6:00 pm, unknown suspect(s) made entry into the residence by kicking in the back door.  Property was taken.

Gas Station Theft from Auto

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 8:33 am, a theft from auto occurred in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue (W Express Gas Station).  After fueling her vehicle, the victim walked into the establishment to pay, and unknown suspect(s) stole property from the front passenger seat of her vehicle.  There is no suspect or suspect vehicle description.

Attempt Theft from Auto

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 7:45 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6700 block of Cockerille Avenue for the report of an attempt theft from auto.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's vehicle by unknown means but appears that no property was taken.

Theft from Auto

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 8:00 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 6500 block of Allegheny Avenue for the report of a theft from auto.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's vehicle by unknown means and stole property.

Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report 8/1/2014 - 8/7/2014

Arrests:
 
600 block of Ethan Allen Avenue, on Friday, August 1 at 2:45 am, a male, 47, was arrested for possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Phencyclidine (PCP).
 
900 block of Merrimac Drive, on Friday, August 1 at 2:35 pm, a male, 37, was charged for possession of CDS Marijuana and released.
 
7000 block of Sycamore Avenue, on Saturday, August 2 at 4:24 am, a male, 33, was arrested for a theft from auto and possession of burglary tools.
 

Stolen Auto

On August 7, 2014, at approximately 8:16 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 600 block of Elm Avenue for a report of a stolen auto.  The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a 2003 white Ford F-350 Utility body, bearing Maryland tag #30N057.  Some time between August 6 at 10:30 pm and August 7 at 7:15 am, unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's vehicle.
