The City has held three community meetings to discuss the development of a sidewalk in the 400 block of Boyd Avenue. The process for new sidewalk requests, established by the City Council, requires that affected residents be involved in the decision through a series of meetings and votes. The first community meeting to discuss the request was held in October, 2012. The first vote, which took place in November, 2012, gauged support for proceeding with development of a design. The City received 27 votes, 21 in the affirmative, so the design process was approved. The engineering firm of Rummel, Klepper and Kahl was hired to develop the design. Design proposals were presented to the community on two occasions, March 26, 2014 and July 8, 2014. Based on feedback received from the meetings, a final design for the sidewalk has been developed.
The final sidewalk design includes a 5 foot wide sidewalk located on the south side of Boyd Avenue (odd numbered side) between Jackson Avenue and Aspen Avenue. The sidewalk is then continued on the north side of Boyd Avenue (even side) between Aspen Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Please review the project document for the final design drawing.
