New at the Library: Energy Use Meter for Home Use!

Friday, June 27, 2014

You can now check out a Belkin "Conserve Insight" energy use meter at the Takoma Park Library. The device is similar to a Kill-a-Watt, and can help you identify which appliances and gadgets in your home are using the most electricity. Simply plug the Conserve Insight into an outlet, then plug an appliance or other electronic device into the Conserve Insight, and the meter will display how much money and electricity the item uses. Understanding your energy consumption is the first step towards reducing it. This new item is being offered in conjunction with the Sustainable Energy Action Plan, a City-wide effort to reduce energy use. You can check out the Conserve Insight at the library main desk, the lending period is 3 weeks.

If you have questions about the device, contact the Sustainability Manager, Gina Mathias, at, or 301-891-7623.
