City Manager's Update - October 6, 2005

City Manager Matthews noted the time delays that resulted from certain utility-related matters. Now that these issues were largely resolved, there were a series of inspections that must take place in order for the City to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. Assuming that no major problems developed, staff was tentatively scheduled to relocate during the latter part of the week of October 17th.

The City Manager advised the City Council that the City was close to finalizing the details of the contract with TRG Construction for the Community Plaza Level phase of the project. She stated that staff was working with the firm to resolve the few outstanding issues.

In response to a question from Councilmember Seamens about the Grand Opening Celebration planned for October 22nd, City Manager Matthews noted that it was unknown at this time when the City would obtain the Certificate of Occupancy. Assuming that the city obtained the Certificate of Occupancy so that staff could relocate during the week of October 17th, there would be very little lead time for the set up of furniture and equipment, the installation of art, etc. It was agreed that the City Manager would provide the City Council with an update as further information become available about the timing of the various inspections.
