City Manager's Update - May 8, 2006

City Manager Matthews expressed her appreciation to TRG Construction for completing work in the lobby area outside of the auditorium on time. She advised the City Council that the base boards would be installed in the near future; the wrong product had been sent.

The City Manager stated James F. Knott Construction, the contractor for Phase One, would be making corrective repairs to the front (Maple Avenue) parking lot in the near future. While the work was underway, parking for handicapped customers would continue to be available for those visiting the Police Department; those requiring service from other City departments should park in the Grant Avenue lot. All other visitors to the Community Center should parking in the rear parking lot.

City Manager Matthews updated the City Council on the Phase Two portion of the Community Center project. She informed the City Council that a number of items had arisen that would constitute changes to the contract between the City and TRG Construction. Additional tile work will be required in the restrooms, and the Fire Marshal would likely require some modifications to certain door locks in the Police Department. The City Manager advised the City Council that an existing sewer line in the Police archives room was found to be in poor condition and in need of replacement. She had authorized TRG Construction to proceed with this work, which would be paid for out of General Fund monies. Phase Two was still on pace to be completed by the end of May.
