City Manager's Update - April 25, 2005


City Manager Matthews provided the City Council with a status report on the bid process for the Community Plaza Level renovation. She stated that the bid submission date is June 1st. The staff's recommendation for award of a contract is scheduled for June 6th.

The City Manager advised the City Council that the closing on the recently authorized $2.6 million issue would take place on May 26th.

City Manager Matthews further advised the City Council that she and members of the project management team had recently met with Mr. Paul White, Vice President of James F. Knott Construction Company, to discuss the project completion date and other matters. The anticipated completion date was difficult to determine at this point as certain work by PEPCO related to the permanent power connection to the building had not yet been finished. Mr. White had indicated that his firm would need approximately four weeks to do their work related to the permanent power connection after PEPCO finished its tasks. The City Manager stated that she was scheduled to meet again with Mr. White in the near future and would update the City Council as additional information became available.
