City Manager Matthews stated that the Grant Avenue entrance to the building would be closed as of Tuesday, April 11th due to construction activities in the lobby area outside of the Auditorium. The Auditorium would be unavailable for use from this date until May 8th. Various City meetings would be relocated as a result. The City Council meetings on April 17th, April 24th, and May 1st would be held at Takoma Park Middle School. Residents should contact the City Clerk's Office for the location of other meetings. Because the elevator would not be available during this period of construction, persons with mobility difficulties who wish to pay bills, have passport services, etc. would be served in the Police Department lobby.
The City Manager reported that a portion of the lower parking lot was closed for repair work by James F. Knott Construction Company. She noted that period closings of various sections of the lot would be necessary as the work continued.
City Manager Matthews advised the City Council that installation of the security system (remote car readers, etc.) was underway. She informed the City Council that Phase Two of the project was on schedule to be completed by the end of May.
