City Manager Matthews advised the City Council that earlier in the day she had sent James F. Knott Construction, the contractor for Phase One of the Community Center project, a valuation of the punch list and other unfinished work. In her transmittal letter, she had asked the firm to provide her with a schedule for how they plan to address the punch list items and other unfinished work. In the letter, she indicated her expectation that all outstanding work be addressed within 30 days of her letter.
The City Manager further advised the City Council that she would be meeting with the President of TRG Construction, the contractor for Phase Two, on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 to discuss the status of the elevator installation. By contract, substantial completion was to have been achieved by mid-December. Since this did not happen, the City was entitled to liquidated damages.
City Manager Matthews informed the City Council that staff was in the process of preparing a draft of the mailer concerning the proposed gymnasium. The mailer would be sent to all City residents in advance of the public forums on February 10 and 11, 2007. Staff hoped to provide the City Council with the draft by the end of the week. The City Manager asked the City Council to provide staff with suggested changes to the document at their earliest opportunity to allow sufficient time for translation into Spanish, printing, and mailing.
