Awards in 2009: City TV received three awards this year: One from the Hometown Video Festival for Snapshots segment "WordImage: Fusion of Poetry and Art". IwMoArGdE

City TV also received two awards from the Government Programming Awards; one in the Visual Arts category and one in the Arts and Entertainment category for production of the Sabroso performance held at the 2009 Jazz Band Brawl. On July 7, 2006, in historic Fanueil Hall in Boston, City TV was honored for Overall Excellence in Government Access for stations with budgets under $200,000. The Award was presented at the 2006 Hometown Video Festival at the annual Alliance for Community Media conference.
Likened to the Emmys for public, educational and government access channels, the Hometown Video Festival celebrates the vast array of access programming throughout the country. The Alliance received over 1,400 entries for awards this year.
The Overall Excellence Award is the top award to access channels like City TV and reflects the myriad of programming about City government and community activities available on City TV.
City TV also received an award in the category of Government Profile, This award was granted to City TV and Executive Producer Paula Rehr for a Snapshots Community Policing Segment called "Going to the Dogs". This segment features TPPD's canine teams with handlers, Cpl Keith Largent and Cpl. Doug Malarkey, along with city businessman John Urciolo explaining how canine (K9) is used and its value in public safety. The Community Policing segment is a monthly feature of the Snapshots magazine series, and is co-produced by Paula Rehr and Police Department Public Affairs Specialist Carol Bannerman.

In 2005 City TV received an award in that yearsHometown Video Festival for "Humane Society PSA" in the category of Educational Class Project. Takoma Park resident Julian Barnes wrote, produced and edited this PSA with City TV staff as mentors. The award was presented on Friday, July 8,2005 at the Alliance for Community Media annual conference. The PSA was part of Julian Barnes' Sixth Grade Project at Friends Community School during the 2003-4 school year.
On September 18, 2004, Takoma Park City TV received an award at the annual Government Programming Awards ceremony of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) held in San Francisco. The award is for the production of Jazz Band Brawl 2004: The Lovejoy Group in the Performing Arts category for channels with budgets under $300,000. The annual NATOA Government Programming Awards competition recognizes excellence in television, multimedia and electronic programming developed by local government entities. In 2003, City TV received an award at the NATOA 2003 Government Programming Awards for a Jazz Band Brawl performance featuring the Neal-Anderson Quartet, who were the winners that day of the coveted "Jammie"!
In 2002, Takoma Park City TV received the 2002 award for Overall Excellence in Government Access (in the $150,000 - $399,999 budget category), the highest award a cable access channel can receive from the Alliance for Community Media. It recognizes City TV as one of the best government access channels in the country!
