Friday, May 7 - 7:30 p.m.
“The Legend of John Fahey”

Showing of the documentary, “The Legend of John Fahey,” followed by a discussion with filmmaker Marc Minsker as part of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Experimental Film Festival. Performance by Fahey protégé and acoustical guitarist Peter Lang.

Seating for the Fahey film is limited and while this is a free event, tickets are required. Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive not later than 15 minutes before the event. Seating will be opened to non-ticket holders at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the reception desk at the Takoma Park Community Center and at the House of Musical Traditions. Limit of four tickets per person.

Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra
This award-winning steel pan group performs all genres of music, from jazz and gospel to R&B and calypso.

Tuesday, May 11 - 8 p.m.
Stream and the Blue Dragon Band
Middle Eastern rhythms meet jazz and Afro-Caribbean sounds in the Dragon's unique, colorful and lively music with Middle Eastern style dancers.

Wednesday, May 12 - 8 p.m.
An Evening with Henry Allen
A conversation with Pulitzer Prize winner, Henry Allen: artist, journalist, poet, novelist, critic, Takoma Park resident and former editor for The Washington Post.

Thursday, May 13 - 8 p.m.
Split bill with Billy Coulter and Maureen Andary
The music of 5x Wammie winner and Takoma Park resident Coulter has been described as blurring the line between Roots Rock and Power Pop. Andary is a singer/songwriter inspired by 1930s Jazz and Cabaret.

Friday, May 14 - 8 p.m.
"Hyena in Petticoats”
A reading of selected scenes from Grace Cavalieri’s award winning play about Mary Wollstonecraft, the mother of modern feminism.

Saturday, May 15 - 5:30 p.m.
The Azalea Awards
Join the Takoma Foundation and the Takoma Voice in celebrating the local heroes and heroines who make our community the great place it is.

Sunday, May 16 - 3:30 p.m.
Takoma Park Voices - a family sing- along
Family-themed event featuring Takoma Park moms and musicians, Becky Linafelt and Sonya Cramer: musical entertainment, a family sing-along, and instrument play-alongs. Children of all ages welcome.

Wednesday, May 19 - 7:30 p.m.
Fred Bowen
Fred Bowen, author of 13 sports novels for kids ages 8-12 who also writes a weekly sports column for The Washington Post’s “KidsPost” page, will read from some of his books and then talk about his work before taking questions from the audience.

Thursday, May 20 - 7:30 p.m.
Third Thursday Poetry Reading
Featuring the work of Takoma Park’s past and present Poet Laureate Anne Becker and Don Berger, and local poets Martin FitzPatrick, Janice Samuels, Samantha Magrath and Katherine Williams.

Friday, May 21 - 7:30 p.m.
"This Is Our Body"
Readings by the poets from the recent collaborative exhibition "This Is Our Body". Anne Dykers, Regina Coll, Greta Ehrig, Nicole Salimbene, James Landry, Tiziana Lohnes and Anne Becker will put their poems from the show in the context of their bodies of work.
