Background Information On October 11, 2004, the City Council voted to establish the Residents' Committee on Tax and Service Duplication Issues. The Committee is charged with becoming knowledgeable of the legal requirements and constraints of municipal tax duplication in the State of Maryland and in Montgomery County and recommending how the City can communicate this information to the public. The Committee will also recommend actions the City could take to obtain a fairer tax duplication payment from Montgomery County and to decrease the level of tax duplication paid by City property owners. Resolution No. 2004-50 constituted the Committee for a period of six months, which could be extended at the discretion of the City Council. The Committee will provide the City Council with a final report at the conclusion of this six-month period. return to: City of Takoma Park
